The team list for the IEM Road to Rio Europe RMR has now been finalised.
Benched Heroes and GamerLegion have clinched the last two spots up for grabs at the IEM Road to Rio Europe RMR after making their way through the fourth and final open qualifier. The two teams took down Illuminar and Forward, respectively, in the 5th-6th place decider matches after missing out on direct qualification with losses in yesterday's quarter-finals.
A handful of notable teams fell in this most-recent qualifier, namely Apeks and Movistar Riders. The European combine's absence from the upcoming Major-qualifying event is set to put an end to Richard "shox" Papillon's record of attending every CS:GO Major championship since the game's release, one he shares with Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen and Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth.
smooya's Benched Heroes will be present at the Europe RMR in Malta
Benched Heroes, a mix-team featuring the likes of Owen "smooya" Butterfield and Michał "MICHU" Müller, had to secure their place at the Europe RMR through the 5th-6th place decider bracket after suffering a quarter-final defeat at the hands of HEET on Saturday. The side managed to put up some resistance versus the Frenchmen, but in the end were taken down in two straight maps with 16-11 and 16-10 showings on Overpass and Dust2.
Benched Heroes faced off against Illuminar in their decider match. Both teams were pushed to the limit in the opening two maps, with Mirage being a 16-14 victory in favour of Illuminar before Benched Heroes equalised with a 22-20 scoreline on Dust2. In the end, however, it was smooya and company who punched in their ticket to Malta, surviving the Poles after a hard-fought 16-14 showing on the final map of Nuke.

GamerLegion, on the other hand, were sent down to their decider game following their 2-0 defeat to SAW in the quarter-finals yesterday. The Portuguese side looked in control for much of the series, edging out the European mix with 16-12 and 16-9 showings on Ancient and Vertigo.
GamerLegion squared up against Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov and Rustem "mou" Telepov's Forward squad for their chance at making the Europe RMR. The two teams traded map picks with the Russian-majority roster nabbing their choice of Dust2 19-16 before the European roster answered back by stealing away Mirage 16-9. Ancient, meanwhile, was a completely walkover from start to finish, with GamerLegion thrashing their opponents 16-1 to get themselves one step closer to an appearance at the Major.
